My globe is kinda like this, but the witch is all in the six foot globe.

My daughter is having a sleepover on Halloween for her birthday (she turns 10 tomorrow), and they’re going trick or treating. One of the girls said she couldn’t come because Halloween was against her religion. I spoke with her mom, who said she could come, but the witches and ghosts were things they had to take very seriously, because they perceived of these things as dangerous in their religion, and playing with the dark side.

I did write about this a few days ago, but there’s a new twist…we’ve been busy putting up our Halloween decorations.

The girl is coming to the party, but I wonder what she’s going to say when her mom drops her off and there’s a 6 foot ’snow globe’ with a witch on it next to my path, and a sign on my door that says “The witch is in/out”? Or the broom over my front door in the foyer?

I don’t think they’ll be staying, and that makes me sad.

And the funny part is, I’ve been her Girl Scout leader for 3 years. I don’t allow religion in the group (the girls can achieve their religious patches with their parents if they desire), and I made sure that the GS council knew I was Wiccan when I signed up. They told me it didn’t matter what religion I was, as long as I didn’t bring it into the troop (and they told me they’d stand behind me should there be an issue. I love Girl Scouts). So the moms don’t know, because it’s none of their business. And what upsets me the most is, that if this one mother knew I was Wiccan, she’d pull her daughter out of her troop. After trusting me with her for 3 years.

Because she doesn’t understand that worshiping mother earth is different than worshiping Satan.
